Wetsuits

Wetsuits are relatively inexpensive, simple, Neoprene suits that are typically used where the water temperature is between 10 and 25 °C (50 to 80 °F). The foamed neoprene of the suit thermally insulates the wearer. Although water can enter the suit, a tight fitting suit prevents excessive heat loss because little of the water warmed inside the suit escapes from the suit.

Semi-dry suits are used typically where the water temperature is between 10 and 20 °C (50 to 70 °F). They are effectively a thick wetsuit with better-than-usual seals at wrist, neck and ankles.

The seals limit the volume of water entering and leaving the suit. The wearer gets wet in a semi-dry suit but the water that enters is soon warmed up and does not leave the suit readily, so the wearer remains warm. The trapped layer of water does not add to the suit's insulating ability. Any residual water circulation past the seals still causes heat loss. But semi-dry suits are cheap and simple compared to dry suits. They are made from thick Neoprene, which provides good thermal protection. They lose buoyancy and thermal protection as the trapped gas bubbles in the Neoprene compress at depth. Semi-dry suits can come in various configurations including a single piece or two pieces, made of 'long johns' and a separate 'jacket'. Semi dry suits do not usually include boots, so a separate pair of insulating boots are worn.

Probe’s revolutionary INSULATOR range is made from a HI TECH SUPER THIN 0.5mm METALITE lined neoprene that actively reflects heat back to the body, keeping you warmer and in the water longer.

Insulators are designed to fit “like a second skin” and work by trapping a very thin, evenly dispersed film of water against your skin. This film of water is very quickly warmed by your body heat and kept warm by the reflective nature of the internal metalite barrier. The “second skin” fit also eliminates cold water flushing between the garment and your skin; therefore your body only has to heat the water once.

Thermo-Core is a hi-tech tri-laminate fleece material that offers excellent warmth per weight and has three different layers of defense against the elements.

The inner fleece lining is extremely comfortable and wicks perspiration away from the body. The middle layer is a highly advanced barrier membrane that allows perspiration vapours to pass through whilst blocking water and wind from the outside. The outer layer is an abrasion resistant nylon that is coated with a water repellent finish.

Thermo-core products can be worn under any wetsuit or dry suit to increase warmth and comfort. Or worn separately they are perfect for warm water diving, snorkelling, paddle sports, surfing, sailing or any other water-sport.
They also make excellent base garments for any adventure sport.

Lycra products are made from our heavy weight, four way stretch Lycra. Stretching Lycra and holding it up to light can gauge the weight or thickness of Lycra. Thinner, cheaper Lycra will appear as a very open weave. Compare the difference with our Lycra products.

Probe’s Lycra products provide full sun (UV50+), stinger, abrasion and rash protection for the area covered, as well as providing some thermal protection.

Our Stinger suits have a fully contoured pattern, with extra seams provided for fit and flexibility. They are internally over-locked for durability and are the only stinger suit on the market that provides the comfort, style and practicality of a vertical rear zipper.

Our Rash Vests also have a fully contoured pattern for comfort and fit, with an exaggerated body length so that they cover the mid-rift area during use.
They are flat-lock stitched for extra comfort and durability
